Real inventions was founded in 2009 in Heathmont Victoria, Australia by Derek Pater the managing director of Real Inventions.
So then he set out a design for his first invention, the Roofing Protractor. It took a few attempts to get the invention just right but with the help of a retired scientist, it was a success. This new invention easily calculated the angles needed for any roof design. Then following the Roofing Protractor in 2007 the Stair Square was created and followed to make it "fool proof" to work out any staircase.
Derek in 1995, as a young 2nd year carpenter apprentice was frustrated when using roofing tables to work out the rise and run of a roof project indoors. "There has to be a better way" he thought.
Both inventions the Roofing Protractor and Stair Square have been showcased on the ABC New Inventors in 2008 and 2011 in Australia. The Stair Square won a good design award in 2011.
Both tools are licenced tools and are licenced to factories in Taiwan.
